Last season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played a significant part in FC Barcelona finishing the season at second place in the league table despite the below-average start the team had. His exploits against Real Madrid in the league El Classico definitely made him a fan favorite in Camp Nou, as did his other goals at a critical time for the club. Now a return to Camp Nou for Aubameyang might be on the cards.
Despite the performances that Aubameyang had with FC Barcelona last season, the club felt that he would no longer be needed at the club with the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, and this feeling was also shared by the attacker himself. This turned out mostly to be true as Robert Lewandowski has well and truly established himself as the spearhead of the Barcelona attack.
However, Aubameyang’s season at Chelsea has not gone particularly well, as he has struggled to get into the plans of their newly appointed coach Graham Potter. As a result, he is looking for an exit route from the London-based club at the end of the season.
SPORT reports that he is dreaming of a return to Barcelona, where he had a memorable season, while other clubs like Atletico de Madrid and AC Milan could also be potential destinations for the attacker. The report further mentions that Aubameyang has offered himself to Barcelona in January as well, however, this move could not materialize due to administrative issues.
The possibility of this move is greater in the summer, as Barcelona also have positive impressions of the player from last season. Still, the player is not the first priority for the club in the upcoming transfer window, and would also have to keep the salary limit in mind before moving in for any player.
