Often times, adjusting to a grand club like FC Barcelona takes time and experience to get accustomed to. Regardless of the position one plays or the roles that they are given, adaptation is definitely something most elite players have to get used to over time.
On the other hand, there are also those that surprise and go even beyond early expectations. The adaptation period for these special few barely takes any significant time and they incorporate themselves within their new teams rather seamlessly.
Such is the case of 23-year-old Atletico Madrid loanee Joao Felix, who managed to score and give a complete performance against Real Betis in his first-ever start for FC Barcelona. Moreover, this sentiment is even shared by one of the former stars of the Blaugranes itself.
As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, former Barcelona hero Pedro Rodriguez recently spoke about his old club in an interview with Television Espanola and acknowledged several things, including his own belief that the Portuguese star in the team will adapt well to it and was a great signing for La Blaugrana.
“Sometimes it’s difficult to adapt to a style of play, but at Barça, he will achieve it. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see him at Atlético.”
He also talked about how Barcelona have reinforced themselves holistically and even wished his former club the best of luck in their future endeavors, including their UCL campaign this season.
“Barça has reinforced itself very well. I have many friends there and in the league in general. On Tuesday, I will reunite with some of them. I wish Barça the best of luck, and to Xavi, who is my friend.”
Pedro was previously at FC Barcelona from 2005 to 2015, having come up from the youth ranks of the Catalan giants. Once he found his place in the senior team, the Spaniard helped Barcelona win 5 La Liga titles and 3 UEFA Champions League titles alongside several other honors.
