Former Barcelona forward Luuk De Jong and Barcelona loanee Sergino Dest

Former Barcelona striker responds to 22-year-old defender’s move to PSV

With only a few days left in the transfer window, clubs across Europe, including FC Barcelona, are working to complete their operations with the utmost urgency. The Catalans have successfully met some of the objectives for this transfer window, while other still remain to be worked upon.

FC Barcelona completed one of their tasks of the window today, as they announced that Sergino Dest has been loaned out to PSV Eindhoven for the rest of the seaosn, where he will return to the place of his birth, and try to regain his form by playing in a league that he already has shined in with Ajax.

Luuk de Jong responds to Dest’s arrival

Dest would not be the only player associated with FC Barcelona as he joins his new side as Luuk de Jong is also currently playing with PSV Eindhoven. De Jong spent one season at Barcelona, as he came on a loan from Sevilla, and played mainly under his compatriot, Ronald Koeman.

Thus, the two players will be reunited in the Netherlands, after having shared the dressing room at Barcelona. As SPORT has reported, the striker reacted to the post by FC Barcelona official account where they announced the departure of Dest, and commented: “We will take good care of him”, along with some heart emojis.

Dest’s loan to PSV Eindhoven

Sergino Dest has joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan, but the Dutch club will have a non-mandatory option to sign him permanently if his performances convince them. In such a case, Barcelona would retain right to a percentage to the proceeds from a future sale of the player.

This loan comes on the back of another previous loan of the player at AC Milan, where he spent the last season without impressing much. This summer, he returned to Barcelona and the Catalans gave him a chance to convince Xavi with his performances, but the player failed to do so.

Now, the Blaugranes will be hoping once again that Dest can regain his form so they can find a more long-term suitor for him next summer, or reincorporate him into the squad if he meet the requirements set by Xavi.
