FC Barcelona is among the most competing clubs in the world when it comes to aspirations and earning the right to play. As such, when certain players are unable to find their place in Barça, they tend to look for way outs elsewhere that would allow them to play more and participate.

However, finding that new club can be a tricky endeavor. One wrong move and players already end up worse off than they ever were before. In the case of FC Barcelona, it was 21-year-old Moroccan winger Ez Abde who wanted a change of scenery so that he could play more.

Consequently, the young Moroccan followed the echoes of Ramon Planes all the way to Real Betis. Betis paid up €7.5 million for the permanent transfer of Abde but Barcelona did include a buy-back option that they would love to make use of in the scenario that Abde ends up becoming a great asset with promise.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, however, the decision to choose Real Betis has not worked out for the young winger. His average playing time is apparently even worse than what he was getting at Barcelona.

Across the entire campaign thus far, Abde has featured for Real Betis only once as a starter from five La Liga games, and even against Barcelona in the Montjuic Stadium when Betis lost 5-0, he only came on as a substitute in the second half and played half the game.

In La Liga, Abde has had little luck and the amount of time he has played every game varies significantly. On the other hand, he has had far better luck in the UEFA Europa League. Having played two games thus far, one against Rangers and one against Sparta Prague, Abde featured for 72 and 46 minutes respectively.

After featuring for Barcelona against both Getafe and Cadiz, he made the switch to Real Betis and his minutes have been barely impressive. Ranging from typically playing close to only 45 minutes and going as low as even 18 minutes, many are beginning to question if the young Moroccan even made the right decision to leave Barcelona after all.

Given that his departure came in the same summer that Ousmane Dembele left, there was a huge possibility that he could have gotten more minutes this season. However, he ended up making his decision to leave and players like Joao Felix and Lamine Yamal have stepped up to take advantage of the opportunities that they were given.
