In the last few years, FC Barcelona have seen an increasing participation of players from their youth academy in the first team dynamics.
The club’s financial problems have forced their hand to use the resources available to them to some extent, but developing homegrown talent and relying on them is also a part of the Catalan club’s traditions.
Currently, the club has Gavi and Balde as two of the stars who developed at La Masia and have fought to gain a fixed starting position in Xavi’s lineup. Other exciting youngsters are also currently cropping up at the club.
Bojan to take a new role at the club
In such a scenario, it is encouraging to note that Barcelona are taking the required steps at an institutional level to help these youngsters incorporate smoothly into the first team.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the final organizational chart at Barcelona will be presented next week under the orders of Deco, and one of the more well-known faces in this structure would be Bojan Krkic.
Bojan Krkic, who also came through La Masia, and was one of the youngest players to debut at Barcelona, hung up his boots this last March, and would now be returning to the club that played such an important part in his career.
Bojan’s new tasks
The former Barcelona forward will have a set of important tasks at Barcelona. For instance, he will have to keep an eye on the youngsters who break into the first team and who occasionally train with the first team. This role is needed at the club keeping in view the good number of players who are making the leap from the youth team to the first team.
Furthermore, Bojan will also have to pay attention to the youngsters that Barcelona has sent on loan to other clubs. He will not only monitor their sporting evolution but will also keep an eye on their development as individuals, as they are at a stage of their life when they can easily lose sight of their goals and become involved in activities that can negatively impact their career.
Lastly, Krkic will also assist the Cadet B coaching staff, and seemingly he is the best-suited individual to perform all these duties, as he has experienced life at Camp Nou firsthand, and now also has the managerial expertise to effectively take on this new job.
