Owing to their delicate economic situation and the club’s problems with Financial Fair Play, FC Barcelona face a significant handicap when going into the market to strengthen their squad.

The Catalans have recently added the Brazilian Vitor Roque to their squad, but further additions are almost impossible, especially as they have also not received the expected funds from Libero Group for the sale of Barca Studios.

But despite these economic difficulties, the pull of Barcelona remains strong throughout Europe, and this attraction of the Catalan club can provide them with an interesting option in the winter.

According to SPORT, the former Manchester United player and England international, Jesse Lingard, has offered himself to Barcelona, and the Catalans can get him in their squad list without many problems with FFP.

Lingard has been without a club since June 2022 after he left Nottingham Forest. Currently, he is training in Dubai, and trying to find a club with whom he can start playing professionally once again.

Currently 31 years old, Lingard believes Barcelona would be a very good option for him to return to the heights that he once touched in football. Barcelona can register him for less than €2 million for the rest of this season, which would be within the FFP space allowed to them.

Sportingly, the Englishman can play in the midfield or behind the strikers. His skills and experience in top-flight football will make it easy for him to adjust to Xavi’s training methods quickly.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have a very busy schedule ahead, in which a player of Lingard’s quality can contribute significantly. After the Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro tonight, the Catalans will begin the defence of their Spanish Super Cup title in Saudi Arabia. Lingard plans to join the team in Riyadh, before the semi-final against Osasuna.
