There is no doubt that Real Madrid and FC Barcelona share one of the fiercest rivalries in football. That is why the Blaugranes’ recent 4-0 victory over the Merengues brought such pride and euphoria to the Cules.
However, this rivalry is not limited to the pitch, as the two Spanish clubs also compete in other aspects of the sport, most notably in the transfer market.
Currently, the two clubs are interested in several players, including the Malaga youngster Antonio Cordero, and also the Bayern Munich fullback Alphonso Davies.
Another player whom both the clubs monitored in the past, but who ended up joining Real Madrid some years ago was the French midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni.
Los Blancos signed the midfielder from Monaco in 2022 for €80 million fixed and another €20 million in variables.
From Barcelona, Bojan Krkic Senior, father of the former Barcelona player Bojan Krkic, scouted the player, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, recently revealed his reasons for ruling the €100m-rated French midfielder out for a possible acquisition by Barcelona in a recent interview with Que t’hi jugues.
The former Barcelona scout admitted some strengths in the current Real Madrid midfielder, but also identified the main reason he did not like the player:
“I went to watch him two or three times, against PSG and Marseille… In my reports, I always wrote the same thing: he has power, strength, and aggression in marking—sometimes excessive—but creativity; very little. [He] was not suited for a big club… I didn’t like him.”
Luckily, the Blaugranes have not missed the Frenchman too much, as they have been blessed with several other very good midfielders. Meanwhile, Tchouameni himself is undergoing a forgettable season in Madrid, and for now, it seems like Bojan Krkic Senior’s assessment of the player had some merit.
