Despite the obvious financial and economic restrictions imposed upon Barcelona by financial fair play, it is still clear that the Catalan giants are a club with high aspirations.
In a recent, albeit unexpected, turn of events, Barcelona have been linked to French superstar Kylian Mbappe who has allegedly been put up for sale by Paris Saint-Germain.
As per speculation, due to Barcelona’s inability to pay off his full transfer fee considering their economic restraints, they have allegedly proposed an idea that could see a number of Barcelona players sent in the way of PSG to lower the overall cost of the transfer.
The players in question, as per the latest indication provided by the Spanish outlet SPORT, could be from a list of several important players. Those considered to be most likely to appeal to PSG include French duo Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele, as well as midfielders Frenkie De Jong and Gavi.
The report states that the allure of French players typically always fascinates PSG, and they too have in the past been linked with Ousmane Dembele. With just one year left on his contract as is, Barcelona may consider him as a potentially viable option to include in the deal.
On the other hand, Frenkie De Jong is another name that the Parisian club has pursued in the past following his time with Dutch side Ajax. However, the Dutchman ended up accepting the offer from Barcelona instead to fulfill his dream of joining his favorite side.
Last, but certainly not least, is the name of La Masia product Gavi. One that excites, in particular, the mind of the new PSG coach and former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. Given the player’s importance under the Spanish manager even during his time as the head coach of the Spain national time, it is no secret that Enrique believes Gavi to be a difference-making player.
Even as he negotiated a possible coaching job with Chelsea, Gavi was one of the first names on his list of potential signings, indicating clearly that if Barcelona were to potentially offer the player as an option, Enrique in particular would be heavily interested.
As it stands, however, it remains unlikely that such a transfer will come to fruition. Given the exorbitant salary demands of Kylian Mbappe coupled with his inclination to have sporting demands as well as a reported desire to join Real Madrid, the culmination of various points align to indicate that it is not much more than simply a hopeful pursuit that Barcelona could be in for should they pursue his signing.
