The ongoing season has been one full of many lows and worries for FC Barcelona. Despite their hopes at the start of the campaign, the Catalan giants have faced a lot of disappointment since then. Coupled with their financial woes, Barcelona have barely seen too many smiles this season.
However, despite the worrying progression at times, Barcelona does have reason to smile. This reason has come in many shapes, even from players that have been brought from the outside this season. Yet, the biggest cause for joy has not been anyone but the homegrown talents.
As has happened in the past, Barcelona have once again found salvation with their youngsters. The latest generation of graduates from the Barcelona subsidiary have proven to be exceptional, and they have helped transform this team in ways very few players can.
Four players in particular, as highlighted by SPORT, will be eternally responsible for the hope instilled this season. These players are now identified as Barça’s reason to dream in the coming seasons, and their immense quality is exactly what the club needed.
Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu are the names being addressed. Yamal, aged 16, barely needs any introduction given how big a name he has already become. A player of generational capabilities and talents, the left-footed winger is already a mainstay for Xavi Hernandez.
In fact, he has managed to chain together many starts for the Barcelona first team already. Moreover, he has broken almost every single record he could have possibly broken this season in terms of appearances and goals, and still continues to target more and more historic feats.
Pau Cubarsi, aged 17, is the other addition to the team this season that has blown expectations out of the water. Unlike Yamal, Cubarsi is a defensive player who primarily acts as a central defender. His abilities on the ball and off it as well have garnered praise from the likes of Xavi Hernandez.
Both of those players are seen as leaders of the team moving forward. However, the other two names could end up becoming equally important given that they do not lack the talent either. Marc Guiu, for instance, is a special kind of player not often found in the Barcelona quarry.
A natural goalscorer with the values of traditional strikers, he is an uncommon product of the Barcelona academy. However, despite his unorthodox ways as per Barça’s standards, he has delivered whenever he has been called upon.
His goal-scoring knows no bounds, and he made that a guarantee in his debut itself. Against Athletic Club when he first featured, it took him only seconds to score a goal that would win Barcelona all three points from a game that they desperately wanted a victory from.
Hector Fort, another great talent, is one who joins Cubarsi on the defensive side of things. Primarily a right-back, he has shown himself to possess great technical ability and versatility as well. Capable of playing as a left-back, he has done well to help Xavi’s Barcelona even when no other left-back was available.
All four of these players, as well as other aspiring gems from the quarry, are the future of Barcelona. Their inclusion and support has been vital for the Catalan giants, and the club continues to dream of a much brighter future thanks to their eruption.
