Heading into the new season with new goals intact and new objectives in mind, FC Barcelona are ready to take on the upcoming challenges ahead with a squad that seems more defined in terms of depth than it looked to be in the previous 2022/2023 season.

A major reason for this is the collection of smart operations that Barcelona has conducted over the course of the summer transfer window, which has allowed the Catalan giants to recruit players in various positions and in turn has made the team much more versatile.

The arrivals of former Manchester City star and current German National team midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, alongside Girona pivot Oriol Romeu and Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez, Barcelona have managed to incorporate some very experienced names within the team.

Moreover, another reason for the diversity of depth that the Catalan club possesses is the reliance on their youngsters from La Masia. As it stands, Barcelona has four young gems from the academy registered within the records of La Liga to be eligible to represent the first team this season.

The four in question are 16-year-old winger Lamine Yamal, 20-year-old midfielders Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez, as well as 19-year-old goalkeeper Ander Astralaga.

Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez in particular have already managed to earn their stripes under Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez as they managed to impress him during the course of the pre-season as well as the 16-year-old winger having left his mark in the opening La Liga fixture against Getafe.
