Frenkie de Jong spoke about his dream, his best season in Barcelona, playing in the new Camp Nou, winning La Liga title, the role of Busquets, and playing under Xavi in his recent interview with TV3.
Frenkie on playing in El Clasico in front of 95,000 Camp Nou faithful:
“It’s hard to explain. Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of playing in El Clásico in a Barcelona shirt. This is the most important match for Barcelona fans and for players as well, and it often plays a role in determining the identity of the La Liga winner.”
Frenkie on having his best season in Barcelona:
“I don’t know, I leave it to people to decide that. I do my job. We were bad in Europe but in La Liga, we are well ahead.”
Frenkie on playing in New Camp Nou:
“Yes. Barcelona have always been my dream club and I wish to stay here for many more years. For me, Camp Nou is the most beautiful stadium in the world because of its history. I also like the stadium to be open from the top. It is very big and has a nice atmosphere. I visited it as a kid and it was very special.”
Frenkie on Sergio Busquets:
“Everyone sees his talent. He is very important to the team and he shows it in every game.”
Frenkie on winning La Liga title:
“We have a great advantage over Madrid, but there is still a long way to go. This is my 4th season here and I haven’t won La Liga yet. I’m just as eager to win it as the rest of the team.”
Frenkie on the dreams he wishes to achieve in football:
“There are many. Champions League, La Liga, World Cup and Euro, and many more.”
Frenkie on Xavi:
“Xavi is one of the best midfielders in history, he helps us a lot. He shows us snapshots of recent matches and sometimes puts a particular snapshot where we could’ve made better decisions.”
