As the transfer window is about to kick off, news regarding FC Barcelona and their transfer targets continues to flourish. In a recent interview on a Cadena SER program, the founder of Mediapro gave some insight regarding Lionel Messi’s future.

Apart from being the founder of Mediapro, Jaume Roures is one of the guarantors when it comes to the Board of Directors working in conjunction with Joan Laporta, the current president of FC Barcelona.

As per SPORT, Roures’s personal insight over the current course of Lionel Messi’s future suggests that the player’s own willingness will be the deciding factor as to where exactly the Argentine ends up playing his football following his inevitable departure from PSG.

On the other hand, he confirms that those pulling the strings within the Saudi spectrum of interest in Messi have raised their bid for him. The prior €400 million/season salary being offered has now been raised to an even more unnerving €500 million.

In the words of Roures himself:

“…I think it is possible that he will come back, despite the fact that the Saudis have raised the stake to more than 500 million for a year. The experience in Paris has not been compensatory and everyone has seen how Cristiano Ronaldo is doing in Saudi Arabia and How bad things are going, Leo, has always said that he wanted to go back to Barcelona and this is a factor that weighs…”

While this financial boost will most certainly be an extremely enticing offer at the face of it, it still remains to be seen whether Lionel Messi takes up on that given offer or prefers to continue in Europe and make his homecoming to FC Barcelona, the club from where he grew to maturity as a footballer and achieved unparalleled success with during his senior years there.
