The renewal saga of Gavi has taken another twist after the recent statement of President Laporta and Bayern’s growing interest in the Spanish teenager.
Journalist Roger Torelló is reporting that Bayern Munich are attentive to Gavi’s situation and would be willing to pay his €50m release clause if the Spanish midfielder does not renew his contract with the Catalan giants.
Barca president Joan Laporta told L’Esportiu: “Gavi is only 17, but he has a present and future at Barca. His agent has had the new contract proposal on the table for a long time but he has not accepted it yet. We don’t understand why his agent is delaying the deal. I don’t like the situation. Our salary proposal is more than acceptable. We’ll not improve the offer, as I don’t want Barcelona to continue in the same path as the people before us”.
Journalist Helena Condis reported that sources close to Gavi say that Laporta’s words aren’t true. Barva informed them 2 weeks ago that they would send them a draft offer after 2 meetings, but they still haven’t received a proposal, hence why Gavi’s team haven’t been able to respond back.
Xavi added that he is not worried about Gavi’s renewal. These things take time. I hope that in the next few days we can announce something.
Bayern Munich like Gavi a lot and would be willing to pay €50M for the teenager or he could be involved in an exchange with Lewandowski. Fc Bayern Munich want at least €50M for Lewandowski and have not yet responded to Fc Barcelona’s first offer worth €32M.
However, Gavi’s priority is to continue at the club and there is a strong possibility that he will end up renewing his contract with a release clause of €1B just like Pedri, Fati, and Araujo.
