FC Barcelona arrive at the 2023/2024 La Liga EA Sports campaign hoping to kickstart their season positively as they look for three points against Jose Bordalas’s Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alonso Perez.
Both Spanish outfits will be looking to start with their best possible lineups as the coaches will be simultaneously hoping to leave an impression in the very first game of their respective official campaigns. Here is how FC Barcelona could line-up against Getafe CF.
Potential Line-up:
Goalkeeper: Marc Andre Ter Stegen
Although the second captain of the team, Ter Stegen is likely to represent Barcelona as the primary captain given his tendency to start more often than Sergi Roberto this season. His presence behind that backline will be crucial to Barcelona’s season and this clash against Getafe.
Right-back: Ronald Araujo
With a specialist right-back yet to be signed despite advanced reports, Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo is likely to tend to that position against Getafe while Jules Kounde continues to cover the central channels.
Centre-back: Eric Garcia
With Andreas Christensen having just recovered from injury and now being fully back, it remains a toss-up between who Xavi picks for the opening clash given the breathing room that the Barcelona coach could offer the Danish defender by starting Eric Garcia.
Centre-back: Jules Kounde
The French defender should continue as a central defender moving forward, and will ideally do so against Getafe as well while his Uruguayan partner tends to duties on the right flank of defense.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
The young, electric fullback provides a dynamism to this Barcelona side that few other players could replicate despite his tender age. Balde’s involvement could see Barcelona cause heavy disruption in Getafe’s structure on that left-hand flank in particular.
CDM: Oriol Romeu
The 31-year-old’s performances as the team’s primary pivot have thus far been promising and continue to prove why Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez entrusted such a huge responsibility onto his shoulders.
CM: Pedri
The former Golden Boy winner and currently the beating heart of Xavi’s Barcelona will be tasked to showcase his magic and lead Barcelona to a strong display in this league opener against the men of Jose Bordalas.
CM: Frenkie De Jong
Continues to dazzle and daze through his displays. His partnership with Oriol Romeu has returned dividends for Barcelona and Xavi will be hoping for more magic out of his Dutch Maestro in the opening clash against Getafe.
Left-winger: Gavi
The tenacious teen was back at his diligent best against Tottenham Hotspur during the Joan Gamper clash and will be looking to wreak havoc now that the official season is upon Barcelona.
Centre-forward: Robert Lewandowski
The talismanic Polish striker for Barcelona will continue to be the central figure in attack for the Catalans as he looks to continue challenging for the Pichichi spot in the league just as he managed to win it last time around.
Right-winger: Raphinha
With Dembele having left for France, Raphinha will look to rise up in his stead and truly get the opportunity to prove why he was brought in by Barcelona from former club Leeds United as he will look to improve from his opening season with the Catalan giants.
Expected Line Up:
- Formation: 4-3-3
- Goalkeeper: Ter Stegen
- Defenders: Balde, Kounde, Garcia, Araujo
- Midfielders: Pedri, Romeu, De Jong
- Forwards: Gavi, Lewandowski, Raphinha
