This Nico Williams to Barcelona transfer saga is seeing more twists and turns than a hill station road with no conclusion yet to be reached. The Catalan club continues to wait for the 22-year-old’s decision as the clock keeps running down.

Different sources have different variations of the same news. Earlier today, we covered a story by COPE that Nico Williams was almost certain to stay at Athletic Club for one more season unless his mind changes drastically.

This news came fresh off the back of the player rejecting PSG’s advances. The Ligue 1 giants have been told that Nico won’t be joining them this summer. However, Barcelona have been given no such information as of yet, indicating that the race is still open.

Now, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has come out and revealed that Nico Williams has yet to communicate his decision to either Bilbao or FC Barcelona. Communication from the player is expected throughout this week.

Although Romero is usually a hit-and-miss journalist, he is reliable when it comes to transfer dealings surrounding Barcelona. He has mentioned that a decision is expected before next Monday which is when Nico is expected to return to training.

At this point, no one seems to know where Nico Williams will play next season. There is no idea if the player has even made a decision yet. However, Barcelona continue to wait until the player gives them his final decision.

In such an uncertain time, it is important to take updates from all these journalists/publications with a pinch of salt. A French outlet is likely to mask the fact that PSG was rejected by Nico whilst a Catalan outlet is likely to keep giving hope to Barca fans.

One thing is clear. The next few days could turn out to be crucial in the summers of both Barcelona and Bilbao. It remains to be seen what decision Nico makes. Let’s hope it’s one that the Cules will enjoy.
