FC Barcelona made their way to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after having beaten SL Benfica in the Round of 16 of the competition.

In this next round of the continental tournament, the Blaugranes will be facing the German side, Borussia Dortmund, whom they have already faced this season, winning 3-2 in Dortmund in their League Phase game.

Keeping in view their incredible form and the quality they have in their squad, the Catalans will once again be the favourites against the Bundesliga side in the quarter-finals.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, one commentator from Germany was quite confident that the black and yellow outfit will be able to get the better of Barcelona in this tie.

This commentator was the former Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester City player Dietmar Hamann, who currently works as an analyst.

Talking about this upcoming tie between two big European clubs, the former German international said:

“Barcelona is very open at the back, and I don’t know if that will work in the long run. Of course, they score a lot of goals because they have incredibly good attacking players, but Dortmund knows what it takes, as they showed last year.”

Furthermore, Hamann believed their comeback win over Lille would also drive Dortmund to get the better of Barcelona:

“The second half against Lille was spectacular. In the first half, they had a couple of great chances that they missed. They were losing 1-0 and came back to win deservedly. With this team, you never know. I think they are capable of anything, and now they will eliminate Barcelona.”

There is no doubt about the quality present in this Dortmund side, as they were the finalists in the last edition of the UCL, and lost in the ultimate game of the competition to Real Madrid.

Still, Barcelona will clearly be the favorites in this upcoming tie, but Hamann’s comments still provide an interesting insight which will make the upcoming game even more interesting.
