The high quality of the players playing at different levels in FC Barcelona is beyond any doubt. Only in the current season, the Catalans have promoted several of their players to the first team, without any drop-off in the quality offered.
However, it is not only Barcelona itself that values its youngsters very highly. Other clubs are also looking at the club’s youngsters to bolster their own ranks for the coming years.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, one such club is Girona, whose Sporting Director, Quique Carcel, attended the last game for Barcelona Atletic against Logrones. The official had his attention on two players in particular, Pau Victor and Mika Faye.
The case for the former is rather straightforward, as he is currently on loan at Barcelona from Girona, and has been performing at a very high level this season for Barca Atletic. He has scored 12 goals and given 3 assists in his 20 appearances and has also trained frequently under Xavi.
Mika Faye was the other player that Carcel was interested in. The Senegalese made the defensive axis with Mbacke in this match, but it was not the first time that Girona have monitored the defender, having sent scouts to assess him earlier in the season as well.
But despite their interest in the defender, Girona might find it hard to land him. As already reported here, Lens have already made an offer of €9 million for him, but Barcelona rejected it because the Catalans believe his value can be enhanced further in the coming years.
Even the €9 million already offered by Lens is very high for Girona, but there is no doubt that the defender’s quality warrants a high price. Throughout the season, Faye has shown his adeptness at ball recovery and incredible energy and has also trained with the first team at several instances.
