Certain players at FC Barcelona remain off-limits due to specific reasons. Some players are seen as being too crucial to a certain style of play to let them leave, while others hold a significant importance to the values of a football club. For Barcelona, despite their financial issues, special talents are often off-limits for other clubs.
From among the many stars within the subsidiary and Barcelona academy, certain have the ability to become future first-team regulars. However, such players are also simultaneously hard to keep a grasp onto if they are not given the opportunities that they need.
For this exact reason, it seems that Girona are already testing such waters. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club of Girona is quite eager about a certain Senegalese footballer in Barcelona. As per the information, the player in question is 19-year-old Mikayil Faye.
An acquisition that Barcelona made in the recent summer transfer window, Faye arrived from Croatian side NK Kustosija. He has now become a regular in the Barcelona Atletic setup, and is often a starter alongside another prodigious defender, Mamadou Mbacke.
However, Girona has already initiated their scouting for Faye it seems. As per Romano, the Catalan club has already sent scouts five times to check out the youngster in recent months. This consistency of sending their scouts at this rate clearly shows an intent to pursue the player in the future.
On the other hand, Barcelona have no intention of selling the promising defender. According to both the club and Xavi himself, Faye has great potential for the future. For this exact reason, La Blaugrana do not intend to enter negotiations for the player at any given point.
Moreover, the Barcelona Atletic defender is also expected to travel with the first team to Dallas this week. Having trained with Xavi’s side in the latest training session, he is among those who have the chance to travel for the friendly against Club America as well.
