Gracias Legend: Sergio Busquets has decided to leave FC Barcelona

According to FC Barcelona, the future of current captain Sergio Busquets has been addressed. The legendary midfielder is set to part ways with the club of his life after spending 18 seasons as a Blaugrana and accomplishing various incredible feats.

In a video released by the club, the player recounts his time at FC Barcelona with the dreams and hopes of a young Busquets that today have him held up high on a pedestal of footballing immortals and champions alike.

The 34-year-old Central defensive midfielder has held the pivot position and commandeered it to new technical heights and revolutions during his time as a Barcelona player. A product of La Masia, the midfielder is acknowledged by many across the footballing world to be among the greatest defensive midfielders to ever grace the beautiful game.

With 718 matches played for La Blaugrana, Busquets is third on the list for all-time appearances for the Catalan club. Moreover, the legendary player is also the Barcelona player with the most appearances in El Clasico as well, with 40 matches against arch-rivals Real Madrid under his belt.

The Spaniard has also won all that there is to win at club level with FC Barcelona. His trophy haul leaves much to be envied by any and all who wish to achieve success in the world of Football. With 8 La Liga titles, 3 UEFA Champions Leagues, 7 Copa Del Rays, 7 Spanish Supercups, and 3 FIFA Club World Cups alongside many more, the player boasts a legendary collection.

Moreover, even at an international stage as he accompanied Barcelona teammates David Villa, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, and others, he managed to conquer continents and even the World. With the 2010 FIFA World Cup to his name alongside the 2012 UEFA Euros as well, the player’s success transcends beyond the club level.

Entering the final outings of his last season at the club of his life, the 2022/2023 season under the guidance of Xavi Hernandez could see Sergio Busquets lift another La Liga trophy and add a 9th league title to his already surreal collection.
