There is cause for both excitement and skepticism when it comes to the future of FC Barcelona. No longer is the Catalan club adhering to their old principles it would seem. This shift is evident in the approach Barcelona is taking with their managerial decisions.

For now, all that is clear is that Xavi Hernandez is set to part ways with Barcelona, and he will coach the team for one last time against Sevilla. After that, German coach Hansi Flick is expected to take over at Barcelona, and he will have his own ideas about which players he would like to bring in.

Coincidentally, however, it would appear that a few of his targets may align with those of his predecessor. One of them, according to SPORT, would be 29-year-old German midfielder and Bayern Munich star, Joshua Kimmich, who has been courted by Barcelona for quite some time now.

With Flick’s arrival, however, things look even more optimistic for Barça. Both the new coach and Barcelona director Deco have reportedly begun working on future arrivals and they seem to share an agreement on several operations.

One such operation would be the arrival of Kimmich, who would provide the team with a multi-faceted level of cover and quality.

Having achieved great success under the leadership of Flick at Bayern Munich, the German star may be more susceptible to accepting his former coach’s words and following through with the possibility of playing at Barcelona.

Moreover, the Catalan club believes that Flick’s involvement would entice the Bayern star, and they could ultimately acquire his services from the Bundesliga giants for about or less than €40 million.

At the moment, it seems that priority would still be given to Bayern first by the player. Now that he is seemingly running down his contract, one that expires in 2025, Kimmich would still look to talk to the Bavarian club and whoever ends up coming in as the new coach.

Through this, the player would look to finalize what exactly his role would be next season, although the contractual situation keeps making things difficult.
