It has become a recurring theme for Hansi Flick to constantly keep an eye out for the most prominent young talents at Barcelona. As a result, the Catalan club has been quite dependent on the players from La Masia this season. However, it is a never-ending obsession for the Barcelona coach to continue uncovering new gems.
Already, many of the club’s greatest finds this season have simply come through the fact that Hansi Flick has been willing to give them opportunities. Both during the preseason and now during the official season as well, the Barcelona coach has been a true enjoyer of entrusting the youth.
Even now, ahead of the upcoming La Liga encounter against RCD Espanyol, it would appear that the German tactician has welcomed yet another new face to the Barcelona training session. As highlighted by SPORT, that player is none other than 18-year-old midfielder Marcos Parriego.
Formerly a player for Real Madrid’s youth teams, he was eventually left out during his pre-teen years. However, he gradually developed his game after joining Rayo Vallecano and then subsequently spent a year out on loan at Leganes where he stood out.
Barcelona began to take notice of him, and so did his former side Real Madrid and Premier League champions Manchester City. Ultimately, however, he was scooped up by La Blaugrana and is currently a member of the Barcelona Atletic team that is coached by Juliano Belletti.
As young ‘Parri’ continues his adaptation within Barcelona, Hansi Flick seems to have seen something special in the player. Thus, he was seen training with the first team in their latest session ahead of the upcoming local derby against Espanyol at the Montjuic Stadium.
While young Parriego is still developing, one thing that the report highlights about him is his precise left foot and how it has been one of his standout qualities. It remains to be seen what happens for him moving forward but managing to catch Flick’s eye is definitely a great start for him.
