The summer transfer window is always full of surprises for FC Barcelona, and this one is no different. La Blaugrana are always hoping to improve their squad and they are attempting to do the same this time around. However, as is often the case with Barcelona, twists and turns are a part of the package.

They previously attempted to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who was highlighted as being their key target for the transfer window. Unfortunately, nothing managed to come out of that transfer saga and Barcelona instead turned their attention towards another major signing.

Dani Olmo was the other player Barça wanted to sign, and in this case they managed to accomplish it. However, even now, the Catalan club aspires to sign a new offensive threat for the first team and many reports have linked the club to Italian winger Federico Chiesa.

Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has reportedly given his approval regarding the signing of Chiesa. The German technician seems to believe that the Juventus winger would be a great addition to his team and he even tried to sign him once before in his managerial career.

The former Bayern Munich coach wanted to sign the winger back in 2020 for his Bavarian side, but Juventus were unwilling to accept their offer at that point. Now, however, with new Juventus coach Thiago Motta not being keen on keeping Chiesa as part of his project, Barcelona see the player as a great low-cost offensive target.

Moreover, with Flick believing that the player would be great for the style of football he wants his team to play, that could be the deciding factor. Reports in Italy are already highlighting it as a massive factor that could push Barcelona to sign Chiesa, and they may as well be right.

Other options in the market are either too expensive or do not fit the kind of profile that Hansi Flick wants in his Barcelona team. For now, Chiesa seems to check all the boxes for the Catalan club both from an economic perspective as well as a sporting one.
