FC Barcelona will get a great opportunity during the summer to try out their young talents. Previously, in the presence of grandeur and monetary freedom, Barça seemed to have lost their faith in their own youth. Fortunately, Barcelona is now back on that track due to problematic resource management.
That would mean that new coach Hansi Flick will get a lot of chances during the preseason to test out the talents at his disposal from within the quarry and subsidiary. However, it is always understood that certain young pearls stand out more than others.
For the upcoming tour of the United States of America, Flick will try to take as many youngsters as possible to test them against the most formidable of opponents. While he aims to do this because of the promise they have, it is also due to the injuries and unavailable first-team players.
However, as highlighted by SPORT, Flick made sure to single out a certain young player who he is excited to see more of this summer:
“… When we travel to America, it will change a bit. Toni Fernández was 15 years old just three or four days ago, it’s incredible. You have players aged 15, 16, and 17 with incredible quality, but they can still improve a lot.”
Toni Fernandez, the cousin of Guille Fernandez, is currently a 16-year-old Barça striker who has become known for his strong strike and positional skills. Both the two Fernandez cousins have gotten a lot of praise within Barça, and their reputations are justified.
Even for his age, the 16-year-old striker continues to play at a level beyond that of his peers. According to his age, he should currently be playing for the Cadet sides, but his immense quality has already earned him the right to play for the Juvenil teams.
However, even in general, the new Barcelona coach seems to trust the youngsters of the club with a lot of promise and potential:
“I am very eager to work with them and have them on the team… It’s perfect; you never know how a young player can improve. We have to follow them and help them, this is our job and we love doing it.”
The likes of Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Pedri, and several other key youngsters are still not quite back yet. Whether it is due to vacation or injury, as mentioned previously, Flick is yet to have his full Barcelona squad at his disposal for next season.
