The recent victory for FC Barcelona was about more than just the three points they won. La Blaugrana, instead, ended up making a statement win that showcased exactly what the team is working towards. With each and every Barcelona player all in and committed to the cause, the team feels unified.
However, not everyone will get to be as prominent in this project as their other teammates. That is simply the way things work in football irrespective of the emotional weight that certain decisions may carry and the loss of opportunities others may end up facing.
Such has been the case for 18-year-old Hector Fort so far this season. While he enjoyed some level of prominence during the previous reign of Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona, he is yet to be given any minutes by new coach Hansi Flick in the ongoing official season.
However, instead of letting the player sulk after the game and feeling miserable for not playing, Hansi Flick had other plans. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the manager’s immediate gesture was to embrace the young fullback and give him a direct explanation possibly regarding why he could not deploy him in the match.
Despite not hailing from Spain himself, Flick already seems to understand what it means to treat his Spanish team like a family. The German coach gave complete clarity to Fort it seems and his embrace was telling enough as he received a smile from the La Masia product in return as well once they hugged.
This feeling of togetherness is exactly what Barcelona needs right now to overcome the adversities they have faced in recent seasons. Fortunately, they now have a coach who understands this and continues to help every player feel important in their own unique way.
While Fort may not have received any minutes so far, the young player will definitely have his chances. It is a long season up ahead, and given the state of the calendar with a lot of games lined up, it would only be natural to include as many players as possible.
