So far this season, FC Barcelona has been the home of second chances for several players at the club. Slowly but surely, Hansi Flick has given opportunities to many different players with different profiles in an attempt to test out unknown waters. Ultimately, it allowed the Barcelona coach to assemble a reliable first team squad.
However, while most players are working on redeeming themselves following recent disappointments and succeeding in doing so, others are having a bit more difficulty in achieving the same goal. One such player just so happens to be a forward that almost everyone at Barcelona wanted to see succeed.
Ansu Fati, the 22-year-old La Masia talent who was once regarded as the saving grace of the Catalan club, is now on a journey to find that same old version of himself that earned the world’s praise. Unfortunately, it is proving to be a much difficult mission than anyone could have envisioned previously.
Even in the latest update on the player’s progress that was provided by Hansi Flick ahead of the upcoming game against RCD Espanyol, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the topic of Fati possibly starting for Barça was something that the coach remained tight-lipped over:
“I can say I’m happy; he’s at one hundred percent, but I don’t yet know if he will be a starter.”
At one point while Fati was still in recovery, reports were suggesting that Hansi Flick was quite impressed by him. However, as more time passes, there continues to be a growing sense of skepticism about him and the chances of him potentially leaving the club for good are spreading around in various reports.
It remains to be seen what happens against Espanyol and whether or not the €15 million-rated forward gets the opportunity to start or have a significant role. However, there is no denying the fact that he has definitely fallen down the pecking order and he will need some sort of a miracle to help him rekindle his best version again.
