After breaking almost every youth-related record in the last season, the FC Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal is having an even better start to the 2024-25 season. The youngster has already scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists in La Liga, while also having scored the team’s lone goal in the UEFA Champions League up to now.

With his skills and performances, he is turning out to be one of the most potent weapons in Hansi Flick’s armory. However, as he has been playing regularly since last season, and also played an important role in Spain’s victorious EURO 2024 campaign, he might need some rest in the coming days to keep performing at an optimal level.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, Hansi Flick does not yet believe that it is time to rest Lamine Yamal in the coming game against Getafe. The German tactician was addressing the press ahead of this match, and ruled out rotating Yamal in the upcoming game:

“We have all the data on the players, and for now, he doesn’t need to rest. We’ll monitor it, but I don’t think he needs to rest tomorrow. We need to start well and with a strong team tomorrow.”

“What Lamine is doing this season is incredible. We need to maintain this level of performance… Lamine Yamal could be the best in the world in the future.”

In the last phase of the match against Villarreal, Lamine Yamal was the subject of aggression from two Villarreal players who kicked the youngster in quick succession. Both of them were shown yellow cards, and Flick was rather satisfied with how the referees had handled the situation:

“As I said in the previous press conference, it’s important to take care of these kinds of players. So far, it’s not a refereeing issue. They gave a yellow card, and that’s fine. We want to protect him. He’s incredible with the ball. We need to closely monitor his situation and see how the referees handle it.”

Thus, Barcelona fans can get excited to see Lamine Yamal once again in action in the match tomorrow. However, with the dense schedule that the Blaugranes have for the upcoming few weeks, the 17-year-old winger will have to get some rest sooner or later to keep performing at his optimal level.
