Although FC Barcelona got a victory over Getafe with a minimum margin, Robert Lewandowski was still able to maintain his scoring run and added another goal to his name to further extend his lead in the Pichichi race.

With this strike, the veteran Pole has now seven goals in seven La Liga matches up to now. Furthermore, he also has two assists in this early phase of the league campaign.

With his scoring rate, Lewandowski is once again proving himself to be one of the deadliest strikers in Europe, even at the age of 36 years. He has already won the Pichichi once after arriving at Barcelona and is once again the front-runner for this award.

As Fabrizio Romano has reported, the German coach, Hansi Flick, also recognized the great qualities of the Barcelona striker as he talked to the press after the match against Getafe. The Blaugrana gaffer believed Lewandowski has been the best striker in the world for the last decade:

“Robert Lewandowski has been the best center striker in the world for the last 10 years… His job is to play in front and score goals, and he does that. Simple!”

This is some high praise from the German coach for a player with whom he has worked for quite some time. During Flick’s time at Bayern, Lewandowski was one of the most feared strikers in Europe, as he helped his team win a sextuple.

Now, Flick’s appointment is once again getting the best out of the €15m-rated Polish forward, as has been pretty clear in the first few matches of the season. Hopefully, he will continue to perform at this level for some more years to come, and help the Blaugranes get some more major titles into their cabinet before his body makes it impossible for him to keep playing at the highest level in Europe.
