Despite the unavailability of some of the most important players in this FC Barcelona squad, Hansi Flick has proven his team to be one of the best in Europe since the start of this season.

For the most part of this campaign, the German tactician has been without the likes of Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi. However, two of these players, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi, have now returned to the field, but might still need some days to get back to their best level.

However, their return has come at quite a complicated time. The team is performing at a very high level, and it would be very difficult for Hansi Flick to change the setup that is working so well. Thus, these players, especially Frenkie de Jong, will have to work very hard to break into the German’s starting eleven.

Things will be particularly difficult for Frenkie de Jong, with the criticism he has been receiving from the fans for the last few months, his injury history, and his uncertain future at the Catalan club.

However, as SPORT has reported, Hansi Flick trusts the Dutch midfielder a lot and showcased this trust as he put on Frenkie at half-time.

The Dutchman performed very well in the 45 minutes he got on the pitch, as he provided a lot of control and composure to the FC Barcelona midfield. Furthermore, it was only after his arrival that the goals started coming for the Catalans.

Thus, his first meaningful appearance since his recovery turned out to be a successful one for the €60m-rated Dutch midfielder. However, he will have to build up on this performance to justify the trust that Flick has put in him and also to get back his starting spot in this Barcelona team.
