The summer transfer window will not be the only thing FC Barcelona will focus on in the coming weeks. Beyond just bringing in the right profiles for next season, Barça has other priorities as well. For now, the new Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, seems to be working on his own ideas.

By using the players that he already has at his disposal, those that are not injured or not on vacation, Flick has started to implement the style of play he wants. To do this much more efficiently, however, he has hired the assistance of Thiago Alcantara.

A former player at Barcelona and former disciple of Flick as well, Thiago brings everything that the German coach needs from a helper at this point. Capable of speaking both German and Spanish fluently, he acts as the main connection between the coaching staff and the squad.

However, as pointed out by Alex Pintanel, the new Barcelona coach has another specific task in mind for his new coaching assistant. That specific task would be to help two of Barça’s most important midfielders find their most effective versions under Flick.

The two players in question are Pedri and Gavi, the Spaniards who Flick considers to be pivotal for his midfield in the coming season. In Pedri’s case, the ability of the Euro-winning star to retain possession of the ball and the vision to make line-breaking passes in the final third are both essential for the image of Barcelona in Flick’s mind.

When it comes to Gavi, on the other hand, the former Bayern coach has a very different perception. For Flick, the young and tenacious midfielder is a complete player in every way. His physical attributes combined with his technicality make him the ideal player in any system that Hansi Flick will deploy.

For Thiago, however, this is a unique challenge to address. However, the Barcelona head coach has faith in him to be able to get the most out of both Pedri and Gavi this summer, especially since he was also a technically gifted midfielder during his playing days and a key player for Hansi Flick himself.
