Hansi Flick’s arrival has clearly unshackled the FC Barcelona attack, as the Blaugranes are emerging as one of the most entertaining teams in Europe and Spain, scoring an unusually high number of goals.
In the 36 official matches they have played up to now, they have scored 113 goals, and thus, they are on track to reaching and even beating the scoring numbers of some of the best teams in the history of the Blaugrana club, even Pep Guardiola’s 2011-12 team, which scored 190 goals in 64 total matches.
In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, with their 113 goals, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona is only a single goal behind Pep Guardiola’s team in the same number of games played.
Their upcoming match tonight can help Flick’s team get even ahead of Guardiola’s team, as the latter was held to a 0-0 draw against Villarreal at El Madrigal in their 37th game of the season. If the Blaugranes score at least 2 goals in their match tonight, they will get ahead of the historic team in the same number of games played.
However, reaching the number of 190 goals will still not be easy for the current team, as, in the 2011-12 season, the Catalans had played in 6 competitions, as they were also playing in the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
114 of their 190 goals had come in La Liga, averaging 3 goals in every match, quite a singular record for any team. Flick’s team is a little behind in this regard, as they have scored 64 goals in 23 games with an average of 2.78 goals per game in La Liga.
Thus, it will be difficult to reach the number of their historical predecessors, but Barcelona are still on track and cannot be ruled out from achieving such a task.
