With the international break now finally over, FC Barcelona can turn their attention back towards their most immediate challenges. The first of those challenges will arrive in the form of a visit from Sevilla in La Liga. A key first game for Barcelona to resume the season again, it is a must-win encounter for them by all means.
Still at the top of the La Liga table, Barça are hoping to preserve that advantage for as long as possible. However, only three points separate them from second-placed Real Madrid and a single slip-up could be extremely detrimental to La Blaugrana at this moment.
However, while several key Barcelona players are expected to return from injury for the game against Sevilla, there are some additional uncertainties as well. Both Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal returned from the international break with discomfort, and their participation remains unclear for the game.
Fortunately for a certain young striker, this paves the way for him to finally get an opportunity as a starter again. Pau Victor, as highlighted by SPORT, could be a player to keep an eye on ahead of this fixture against Garcia Pimienta’s side at the Montjuic Stadium.
A versatile forward, Pau Victor is a capable of playing across any of the attacking positions that Hansi Flick tends to deploy his forwards in. With Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski both still being questionable additions for the Sevilla game, and even Raphinha having had an intensely demanding international break, giving rest to any of those players could be beneficial to Victor’s chances of starting.
Moreover, since Ferran Torres is currently sidelined as well, a lot of reasons suggest that the 22-year-old Spaniard could indeed get a big opportunity against Sevilla. It remains to be seen how Hansi Flick ultimately decides to set up his team for the match, but things seem to be in favor of Pau Victor starting that game as of right now.
