Matches are coming thick and fast for FC Barcelona and after their recent win over Mallorca, the Blaugranes are set to play another match today as they face Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin.
This will be a difficult match, but the Catalans will be looking to get the full three points to maintain their lead on the top of the La Liga table after Real Madrid dropped points in the loss to Athletic Club.
Furthermore, this match will be interesting as Barcelona will face one of their own players, Vitor Roque, who joined the Seville club on loan in the last summer transfer window. The player himself has already talked about this upcoming clash.
Now, as MARCA has reported, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has also addressed this issue as he recently spoke to the press ahead of this game against Real Betis. Among other things, he opened up on the decision to allow Roque to leave on loan:
“I’m not worried; I believe in my players. Every opponent has good players, forwards, and defenders… we need to be cautious and defend as a unit. Roque is doing very well.”
“When I arrived, he wasn’t in the best situation. I spoke with him, as he didn’t seem happy. Starting at another team was the best decision for him to feel better. It’s also important from a human perspective.”
There is little doubt that this move has done Roque good, as he is slowly rediscovering his goalscoring touch with the Verdiblancos after having been unable to make any influence at Barcelona during his half-season at the Blaugrana club.
It will be interesting to see how he performs today if he gets the chance to step on the pitch, and also how his overall loan goes and whether he will return to play at Barcelona in the future.
