The preseason tour of the United States of American finally comes to an end for FC Barcelona. In terms of results, La Blaugrana have had a fairly positive tour away from Spain. However, beyond just the results, the most important aspect of this tour was to see Hansi Flick in action.

From what has been observed and seen regarding the way things will operate under the leadership of the new coach, meritocracy is one of the elements that has been highlighted the most. Fortunately for both Flick and Barcelona, there is no shortage of players willing to prove their worth.

One such player is Gerard Martin, a 22-year-old subsidiary left-back who has enjoyed two starts under Hansi Flick during the preseason tour. Following his latest appearance against AC Milan, the player was also asked about the way things are looking under Flick and what his own future holds for him.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the player has only further given proof to the fact that Flick is a man who values those that earn the right to play or deserve to do so:

“Flick is a very good coach. He won’t hesitate to play those who deserve it. He is showing that he can trust young players.“

Talking about his own future, the young Barcelona fullback seems to be feeling positively about it and is waiting for his opportunities to show up:

“Time will tell; I feel good here. Now it’s time to keep working, seize opportunities, and what will be, will be.”

The next game that Barcelona will now play will be the Joan Gamper match against AS Monaco. A traditional game for La Blaugrana, it will likely see Hansi Flick field a strong eleven, and it could be a game that could even potentially include an appearance from Barça’s newest expected signing.
