FC Barcelona are already working on their plans to get a new goalkeeper to replace the injured Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Due to the German goalkeeper’s unfortunate injury against Villarreal, he is now expected to miss the entire season. Unfortunately, Barcelona do not have too much time to ponder their recent loss.
As has happened all season and even previously, the Catalan club remains infested with untimely injuries that have left the squad depth in a position that is a shell of its best possible version. However, what the club can now do is make sure that they do not waste any more time in getting a replacement.
Fortunately, it would appear that they have already made that decision and have even now agreed upon their target and have sealed the deal. As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano recently, retired Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is the man that Barcelona have chosen and the parties have reached an agreement.
“Wojciech Szczesny to Barcelona, here we go! Deal in place for Polish goalkeeper to join as free agent.”

Szczesny will come out of retirement to sign for Barça and replace ter Stegen on one year contract.

This information did not take long to come out after the former Juventus player also confirmed that he was in talks with the club from Spain:
“Yes, I’m now in talks and considering Barça move. It’d be disrespectful if I didn’t consider this option for my career… Barca is one of the best clubs in the world.”
Moreover, an advanced update has also arrived from Poland through the reputable source that is Tomasz Włodarczyk, who already stated that Barcelona had reached an agreement with the Polish goalkeeper and the deal is at an advanced stage as it is.
Furthermore, the report states that the player already even has a medical scheduled with Barcelona that will take place on Thursday after which it should not take the involved parties much longer to officially announce his arrival as the man being entrusted to replace Ter Stegen in the squad.
For now, the updates are all pointing towards an early signing for Barcelona that would see them sign the former Juventus star and make him their acquisition without waiting for the January transfer window. Aged 34, the player still can deliver for a top club like Barcelona even though he recently retired from the sport.
