FC Barcelona and Real Madrid maintain one of the harshest rivalries in club football history. ‘El Clasico’, as most of the world knows it, possesses storied lore to its existence. To this day, La Blaugrana and Los Blancos remain the primary antagonists for one another.
From the days of Samuel Eto’o, David Beckham, and Luis Figo, there has been no shortage of animosity. The two Spanish juggernauts remain absolute about their different ideologies. However, even these two arch rivals are not bigger than appreciating greatness.
Praise from a Galactico
Following the recent clash between Spain and Norway for a decisive Euro 2024 qualifying game, as highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal had nothing but words of praise to say about 19-year-old Barcelona gem Pablo Gavi:
“Gavi is a gem from our country; at 19, he is a starter for Barcelona and the national team. There’s little more to say. The kid has earned it through hard work. No one has handed it to him. If he’s here, it’s because he’s making the most of his opportunities.”
This response came as a natural reaction following the youngster’s performance against their Norwegian opponents. Relentless and unwavering, Gavi ended up scoring the goal that now sends Spain to the European Championships. With Spain winning 1-0, La Roja can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Praise from fans and coaches is well and truly a blessing. However, a Barcelona player receiving words of admiration from a Real Madrid player or vice versa is something truly unreal. Despite showcasing bitter animosity during El Clasico, it appears even Carvajal acknowledges Gavi’s talent.
Young Leader
Despite still just being 19, Pablo Gavi is already a Catalan sensation. Producing displays of great quality even when his seniors are unable to, he is relentless. Moreover, regardless of his age, he is a true leader on the field.
Demanding more of his players, leading by example, and even implementing the coach’s commands properly, Gavi is a sight to behold on a football pitch.
Serial Winner
The La Masia star has already conquered La Liga as well as a Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona. Moreover, he also has a UEFA Nations League title to his name with Spain. On an individual level, the youngster has the prestigious Golden Boy Award in his trophy cabinet as well.
In terms of milestones, Gavi has already become the youngest player to have 25 appearances for Spain. Moreover, he is also the youngest-ever FC Barcelona centurion as well. Most importantly, it does not seem like he is going to be stopping any time soon.
