Not every player that started the summer with Barcelona is currently with the Catalan club. Due to either the sporting demands of the club or the limited openings in the first team, some players are no longer needed at Barça. However, at times, even the players at Barcelona believe that they need a change of scenery.
The same situation apparently became the reality for Marc Guiu, a very talented 18-year-old Barcelona Atletic striker who seemed to have a very bright future ahead of him. Unfortunately, due to his own personal decision and choices moving forward, the player ended up joining Premier League side Chelsea permanently this summer.
While it still has not been too long since he left Barcelona, the player recently spoke about his own future amidst rumors of a possible loan move but also remained respectful of his roots as he claims that the decision was far from easy for him and tried to explain and justify his decision, as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano:
“I still don’t know if I will go on loan… but I think I’m ready for the Premier League… It was a tough decision to leave Barça, for sure — but I always wanted to play in the Premier League.”
As for his own future, the former Barcelona player is clear that he does not want to go on loan if he can have a say in the matter: “I hope to stay, I’m working for it.”
While his own destiny remains uncertain and hardly fortunate, Barcelona have not exactly missed the young striker. In his stead, the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Vitor Roque were already present, but Pau Victor’s emergence is one that has made almost everyone forget all about Guiu.
Instead, Pau Victor now remains one of the favorites to become part of the first team next season. In fact, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has already even dropped hints about it following his surreal performance and the brace he scored against Real Madrid in the recent 2-1 victory for Barça.
