The pre-season tour of FC Barcelona to the USA has not gone exactly as planned as of now. The Catalan team was scheduled to play its first friendly in the US against Juventus, but this tie was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.
A number of FC Barcelona squad players suffered from a viral gastroenteritis disease before the kick-off, and the friendly match between Barcelona and Juventus had to be canceled. The nature of the illness meant that it was not sure whether the squad would be ready for the second match against Arsenal.
However, according to SPORT, the Catalans are optimistic that the second friendly will go ahead as planned. The team is recovering well as no new cases of the outbreak have been reported, and the squad will undertake a double training session today.
The Catalans already have announced that they really want to play in front of their fans in America, and are in close contact with Arsenal to ensure that this friendly goes on as planned.
One of the blockbuster signings of this summer transfer window, Ilkay Gundogan, has also tried to convince Barcelona fans in the USA to look forward to the match against Arsenal.
“Hey, Culers. We are here in Los Angeles. We are very excited to play against Arsenal. We will be ready and we hope for your support”, was the message of the German midfielder.
Barcelona will be hoping that their fans in the USA are still eager to see their team in action during the match against Arsenal, which will be held at the SoFi Stadium. After missing out on the match ticket income for the friendly game against Juventus, the Catalan club is in need of revenue from the tickets for this match and the upcoming games.
