A demolition from FC Barcelona saw Real Madrid crumble to pieces at the Santiago Bernabeu. In what was built up to be one of the biggest El Clasico fixtures of the last decade, it was La Blaugrana who prevailed at the end of the game. With a 4-0 scoreline, Barcelona completely obliterated their El Clasico opponents.
The players and fans from all across the world were eagerly waiting for this game and it did not disappoint. Ultimately, Barcelona prevailed in dominant fashion and did more than just get the three points that they needed from this recent encounter with Los Blancos.
Interestingly, however, it seems that even former players were heavily invested in this game. One such player was Ilkay Gundogan, the German midfielder who now plays for Manchester City but has previously featured in El Clasico for Barcelona and scored against Real Madrid as well.
Ilkay Gundogan’s Emotional Reaction to Barcelona Win Over Real Madrid
On his X account following the game, the Premier League midfielder gave his own reaction to the sensational performance by Barcelona:
“What a statement at Bernabeu … wow🔥💙❤️ Forca Barca!”
A rather heartfelt and honest reaction from the former Barcelona man, and it will surely be a message that fans of the Catalan club will receive with a smile on their faces. Beyond anything else, Gundogan was admired for his honesty at the club and his performances on the pitch as well.
Unfortunately, he had to leave in the summer for reasons that have been disputed between different parties, but he had to return to Manchester City nonetheless. However, even before this Clasico kicked off, he also wished good luck to his former teammates and club:
“Vamos! It’s been some great results and performances recently – very happy my former teammates are doing such an amazing job so far. Tonight the big, big game, good luck & força Barça!”
Alas, it seems that his heart still beats for La Blaugrana after all. Wherever Ilkay Gundogan may end up playing his football next, whether it is at Manchester City or some other club, it is a good sight to see that he remains a Barcelona fan despite the way that he ended up having to leave during a difficult period.
