Succeeding at FC Barcelona is an objective that many talented stars have, but only a select few actually manage. One of the grandest clubs of them all, many stars dream of one day donning the Blaugrana colors and being immortalized.
One of the newest dreamers just so happens to be a temporary signing. 23-year-old Portuguese star Joao Felix is currently playing his football for FC Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid. Once the record signing from the Madrid-based club, certain differences have since seen him distance himself from Los Colchoneres.
Joy in Catalonia
In a recent press conference, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the player spoke about his ongoing journey at Barcelona. Stating his level of happiness and confidence at Barça, the Portuguese forward spoke confidently about his progression:
“As you can see, I’m happy where I am. I feel good, confident, and I think I’m in a good moment.”
Consistency is key
However, he also provided assurance that he did not want to stop improving. He understands that he still needs to maintain consistency in terms of playing at a high level. Moreover, he knows what he has to do in order to continue developing:
“The hardest part is maintaining a good level. But I work every day and always try to improve to address those less positive aspects of myself. And yes, I’m happy and going through a good moment.”
Portuguese Passion
He also spoke about Portugal’s upcoming match against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Realizing that the pressure to win will always be on the Portuguese side, despite already having qualified for the European Championship set to take place in 2024:
“Portugal is one of the best footballing nations. We have the pressure to win and play well in every match. We’re already in the Euro Cup, but we have the pressure to keep winning.”
The forward also handed out praise to his team and commended their balance. Speaking highly of both the attack and defense of his National team, he believes much of their great form is due to a combination of things:
“Everyone knows the quality of our team. We have players in the best teams in the world. Offensively, we are very good, and defensively too, so much so that we’ve only conceded two goals, and it was in the last match. It’s mainly due to organization and tactics.”
What comes next?
Joao Felix will next feature for FC Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao on the 22nd of October. With the current injuries in the team, his participation is considered guaranteed as it is. The Basque club will be a significant challenge, but Felix and the rest of the FC Barcelona squad will want to get all three points from a highly anticipated La Liga clash.
