The ongoing injury crisis at FC Barcelona has been heavily detrimental to the progression of the club. Xavi’s team has had to suffer in games that they would typically look to dominate as a consequence. Without their key players, Barcelona are unable to replicate their best football to any extent.

However, arguably the most important missing component was 20-year-old Pedri. A former Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy winner, Pedri’s influence in this Barcelona team is unparalleled. Due to his injury in August, however, Pedri was only able to play in two official games for the Catalan giants this season.

Pedri progresses perfectly

Yet, despite the ongoing gloom surrounding Barça, fans of La Blaugrana can now look forward to great news. As highlighted by SPORT, Pedri is well and truly back and is close to returning to the pitch. The upcoming game against Real Sociedad will likely see him enter the squad list for the trip to San Sebastián.

During the most recent group training session for Barcelona, Pedri was present and completed the entire training without any setbacks. While he remains mindful of the fact that he just returned from injury, there seem to be no lingering issues.

Injury list shortens

With Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, and Raphinha already recovered, Barcelona now receive even more positive news. Pedri’s return would mean that only Frenkie De Jong and Sergi Roberto will be left on the sidelines. While the latter is mainly a utility player at this point in his career, De Jong still has a major role to play.

The Dutchman has chances to enter the squad list for the Sociedad clash as well, but they are slim. He was not there to complete the recent group training session as Pedri did, and continues more passive recovery for now. Even with just the Canary Islander’s return, however, Barcelona have a lot of reason to be excited.
