While it is clear that the team has also not performed at their best this season, the never-ending injuries and physical problems to its players are also important factors contributing to the poor form of FC Barcelona.
One of the most in-form players in the squad, Ferran Torres, was the last to go out due to an injury, as he lasted only four minutes in the game against Osasuna.
The former Manchester City winger had suffered an injury in the femoral biceps of his right leg, and detailed tests on the injury showed that Torres will have to rest for 4-5 weeks to completely recover from this injury. He will thus miss the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Napoli.
However, the player has not lost spirits because of this injury, and is gunning to return to his best once he recovers from the current problem. As SPORT has reported, this is clear from the social media activity of the winger, who shared a positive message showing his intention to be back as soon as possible on Twitter:
“The mentality is the same. The work and motivation are even greater. I will come back at the top and with more desire to bite than ever to achieve the objectives. Thank you! You are loved, sharks!”
The message was accompanied with his picture of playing football in a Barcelona shirt, and several shark emoticons. The emoticons are a reference to the nickname that the player has got in the Barcelona dressing room and the fanbase in general who call him “the shark” for his fighting spirit and deadliness in front of goal.
Ferran is currently working with physiotherapists to recover from this injury. Meanwhile, Barcelona will have to play against Alaves in their upcoming La Liga match without him, and will also miss him in the games against Granada and Celta de Vigo.
