With the end of the month of June, the two footballers who spent the last season on loan at FC Barcelona, i.e., Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo have seen their association with Barça end for now.

The Catalans are trying to get them both back this summer for another year on loan, but these operations would be very complicated, and they will have to enter very tough negotiations with Atletico Madrid and Manchester City to get them on another loan.

But the fact that neither of these players is too keen to remain at their current clubs can play in Barcelona’s favor.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Barcelona’s task of convincing Manchester City to allow Cancelo to spend another year on loan with them has become significantly difficult as one of the fullback’s former clubs, Inter Milan, has started making the moves to get the defender back in their team.

The Milanese club is looking to replace their fullback Tujan Buchanan, who suffered a serious injury while on international duty with the Canadian national team playing in 2024 Copa America.

One of the first names that Inter have considered for this position is that of Cancelo, whom they have already worked with when he spent the 2017-18 season on loan from Valencia.

This loan turned out to be a highly successful one for Inter Milan, as Cancelo played 28 games, scoring one goal and giving four assists. For now, it is not clear whether Inter Milan will ask Manchester City for a loan of the fullback or try to sign him at a discounted price.

But what is clear is that the Italian club’s pursuit of the Portuguese international will complicate things for FC Barcelona, even though the player himself is preferring a move to the Catalan club.
