After going into the November international break with a defeat to Real Sociedad, FC Barcelona would have been looking to get a win in their last night’s match against Celta Vigo.
The Blaugranes actually came quite close to their desired result, but a few events in the second half completely changed the game. They allowed the hosts to recover from a 2-0 deficit and draw in the last ten minutes.
First, there was the red card to Marc Casado, which left Barcelona with only 10 players on the pitch, and without a key defensive player. Secondly, Jules Kounde made some uncharacteristic mistakes that allowed Celta to score two goals and tie the match.
Naturally, Hansi Flick was far from pleased after seeing such a performance from his team, and his comments after the match reflected the bad taste that this match had left in his mouth. As SPORT has reported, the German tactician was quite upset as he addressed the press after the game.
In this presser, Flick admitted that this was quite a bad game for his team: “We can speak honestly—it was a bad match. We’re not used to playing like this, and we need to talk about it.”
The Barcelona coach confessed that many mistakes were made, and neither his players nor himself was happy with the one point taken from this game: “Our control wasn’t good, we made many mistakes, and I’m not happy at all. The players aren’t happy either… Everyone can play much better than they did.”
“The result reflects how we played. When you play at 80, 85, or 90 percent, you can’t win.”
Despite his dissatisfaction with this game, Flick was quite confident that his team would fight back while making it clear that the whole team was responsible for the draw: “No, it’s about the team, we lost two points. These are things that happen, and we will return, for sure,”
Hopefully, this will be the case, and Barcelona can get back to winning ways as soon as possible. They have another difficult match awaiting them as they host the high-flying Brest in their next match, and it remains to be seen whether Flick will be able to get the full three points in this UCL game.
