FC Barcelona have several players out on loan this season. All of these players are having varying degrees of success with their loan clubs, with Dest seeming to be doing very well with PSV Eindhoven.

Another player who has been getting greater prominence with his club in recent weeks is Clement Lenglet, who had a very slow start to life at the Premier League side Aston Villa.

The Frenchman was unable to get on the pitch in the first fourteen Premier League games, and Unai Emery played him only in the UEFA Conference League. As a result of this lack of prominence earlier in the season, Barcelona and the player himself were thinking of changing clubs midseason.

AC Milan emerged as one of the sides interested in getting the defender, and according to SPORT, the Italians are still keeping Lenglet as their number one target to reinforce their backline in January.

In addition to Lenglet, the Rossoneri also have Jacob Kiwior and Trevoh Chalobah in their sights, but Lenglet is their preferred option.

However, the San Siro side also realizes that the operation to get the Frenchman is very complicated because of the involvement of a high number of stakeholders, i.e., Barcelona, Aston Villa, AC Milan, and Lenglet himself.

Meanwhile, Lenglet’s importance for Aston Villa has also been increasing recently, as he has started the last five games for Unai Emery, four in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup. As a result, the player might not be as keen on leaving the Premier League side as he was before.

Lenglet’s contract with Barcelona runs till 2026, and he will return to the Catalan club once his loan in England ends. However, Xavi does not have the Frenchman as a part of his plans, and he also spent the last season on loan at Tottenham.

Another problem for Barcelona is his wages, as Lenglet was the highest earner in the squad, and a permanent move to Milan can solve several problems for Barcelona.
