In what has been a dynamic start for FC Barcelona to their pre-season tour of the United States of America, the Catalans have emerged victorious in their most recent outing against Real Madrid.
In the 3-0 victory, there were ample amounts of positives for the Catalan club. From the visible improvement of Oriol Romeu to the improved finishing by the offensive players, there were many positives to assess.
However, in what was arguably the biggest takeaway from a heated pre-season encounter, Barcelona youngster Fermin Lopez took the spotlight with both a rocket of a goal and an immaculate assist to add to his name against Real Madrid no less.
As a result, however, a massive sign of intent has come from Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona towards one of their rotation players. As Cadena SER journalist Santi Ovalle has expressed, Barcelona’s expression to Franck Kessie now being even below Fermin Lopez in the pecking order should be a clear indication to find a new club.
The 26-year-old Ivorian midfielder is currently mainly spending his days on the bench for FC Barcelona, and has never managed to cement his importance in this current Barca side under Xavi Hernandez.
On the other hand, Fermin Lopez, the 20-year-old La Masia talent, has only just broken into the dynamics of the first team during the pre-season. The Barcelona academy product has managed to win the hearts of many fans and the manager alike with his performance in El Clasico.
It remains to be seen how early Franck Kessie can finalize a possible transfer away from Barcelona, but the current situation is clear, if he decides to stay he will not be an important piece of the puzzle for Xavi Hernandez.
