The position of Director of Football at FC Barcelona will soon be left vacant, and there remain huge boots to fill in said role. To be assured of and be assured from the new candidate, it is of vital importance that the higher-ups at the club consult with any such candidate before awarding them the prestigious, albeit demanding, position at the club.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, accompanied by the club’s vice president Rafa Yuste and Enric Masip, recently held a meeting with one such potential candidate by the name of Deco.

A former player of FC Barcelona, the Brazilian’s latest adventure prior to this call for a much higher technical position was that as an agent of multiple talents across Europe. One of these talents also currently plays for La Blaugrana, and his transfer was one that Deco was supremely helpful in, that being Brazilian winger Raphinha.

The report states that the meeting was held on Tuesday in the Catalan city while elsewhere across to the capital in Madrid, Manchester City, and Real Madrid were contesting simultaneously in a UEFA Champions League semi-final match that would be concluded as a 1-1 draw.

Deco, while Barca’s chosen one to replace current Director of Football Mateu Alemany, is convinced that this would be a role that he wishes to pursue, but the Brazilian would prefer to understand the club’s proposal in detail first and foremost before giving any final decision.

Realizing that this will be a taxing and demanding role, coupled with the limitations of FC Barcelona’s economic situation, it is a decision that will take its due time to make.

Lastly, there also exists the issue of having to give up his career as an agent while he remains the Director of Football should he accept the club’s offer. Consequently, he would also have to leave the likes of Raphinha, his client, as his representative to indulge completely in his new role at the club.
