FC Barcelona got a brilliant victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday night, and, as was the case in the previous match between these two sides at the Montjuic, Joao Felix was once again one of the most important players for the Catalan side.

Felix once again scored against the side that currently owns him, but this time around, he celebrated this goal with a bit more caution than he did after his goal in Montjuic.

It is clear why the Atletico fans at the Wanda Metropolitano were not in a forgiving mood for Felix, as he was booed and whistled every time he got on the ball, and his shirt was also burned by Atletico fans on his plaque outside of the stadium.

But still, as SPORT has reported, Felix understood the fans’ emotions, and wanted them not to see him as the bad guy, as he talked to the media after the match. Commenting on the fans’ reception, the Portuguese forward said:

“The Atlético fans don’t know things that happened during the time I was there. The fans don’t know what happened inside; I understand them, but I shouldn’t be seen as the bad guy. Even my relationship with the Atlético players is very good.”

Furthermore, Felix also clarified that he had no problems with his former teammates at Atletico either, contrary to what had been reported in the media last summer:

“What is said from the outside, that I have a bad relationship with my former teammates, is not true. As you could see, I stopped to talk to Lemar and Lino, and everyone came over to hug me, talk to me, ask about my family, ask how I was doing, and so on. I have nothing against them, nor do they have anything against me.”

With these comments, it is becoming increasingly clear that the problems of Felix at Atletico lie mainly with the club administration. Thus, his return to the Madrid club looks highly unlikely this summer, and as already reported, this situation might go in Barcelona’s favor as they look to retain the forward.
