There are only a few days left in the current winter transfer window, and FC Barcelona are looking to make some changes in their squad ahead of the second half of the season.
The Blaugranes are looking for an attacking reinforcement in particular, as they are looking for a player who can be counted upon when one of their three starters, Lewandowski, Yamal, or Raphinha, is not playing.
For this purpose, they have been closely linked with the Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in the last few days. However, there are some other names that are also being associated with the Catalan club these days.
One such name is Marco Asensio, the former Real Madrid player, who, according to SPORT, has already been offered to Barcelona by his agent, Jorge Mendes.
In addition to the Blaugrana side, Mendes has also offered Asensio to Atletico Madrid, but neither of these sides has yet taken a step forward, as they remain doubtful about his lack of consistency and the lack of rhythm, following a spell at PSG in which he has not played a lot.
His situation at the Parisian club is expected to deteriorate further as they have already signed the former Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. With the Georgian likely to be a fixed starter for Luis Enrique going forward, the French club is looking to part ways with Asensio.
Mendes has also raised the option of a loan, but still, Barcelona are not yet working on this operation, as they are focusing all their efforts on landing Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.
However, to be able to do so, they will have to generate some space on their wage bill, and for this purpose, the sales of Eric Garcia or Ansu Fati seem to be the most likely solutions.
Despite this, Asensio could still be an intriguing option for the Blaugrana due to his versatility, as he is capable of playing across all three forward positions. Whether Barcelona will eventually consider signing the former Real Madrid star to bolster their attacking options remains to be seen.
