Things in France and around Europe are getting tense for the primary summer target of FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi. Messi is in the midst of a heated plethora of transfer rumors that continue to link him not just in Europe, but even beyond the continent that boasts the most valued leagues.
In the most recent of reports, various journalists and reporters continue to link the Argentine to the likes of the Saudi Arabian club, Al-Hilal.
As per these multitudes of reports, they claim the World Cup winner has already accepted a bid from the Middle Eastern side that would see him become the highest-paid footballer in history with a reported annual salary of €400 million.
While the reported salary has since been confirmed by the ever-reliable Italian journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the actual bid has reportedly not been accepted and has not even been considered by the player and his entourage yet, similar to the other offers on the table, and will only properly be assessed upon until after the 2022/2023 season has ended and Ligue 1 has been secured by Leo Messi and Co. at PSG.
Moreover, Jorge Messi, the father of the current PSG number 30, has himself come out and expressed his irritation regarding the matter, considering it to be a “lack of respect from the media” towards the player. The player’s father would go on to say the following (extracted from his full statement, which can be read on his Instagram):
As of right now, feelings are positive in Catalonia and reports would suggest that the player is still willing to return to Barcelona for a decreased salary than head to the Middle East for astonishing amounts of financial compensation.
