The last few weeks have been quite demanding for FC Barcelona in terms of getting their issues sorted. For the Catalan club, there were a lot of pressing matters that had to be dealt with while the team also needed to perform on the pitch. Fortunately for Barcelona, both of those objectives were ultimately reached.

Both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, through a favorable ruling from the Superior Sports Council (CSD) in Spain, are now temporarily registered again after having been previously unregistered by La Liga. However, it is also true that certain other clubs have not taken too kindly to this development.

Both Atletico Madrid and UD Las Palmas have released their own statements against this development. However, in a recent sports talk show, a certain journalist believes that Barcelona may have ended up benefiting from the possible involvement of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Journalist Paco Gonzalez, as per Mundo Deportivo, stated that he believed Perez to be a potential influence behind this recent ruling from the CSD:

“If someone told me that Uribes [CSD president] called Florentino yesterday to say, ‘Hey, I’m going to announce this—what do you think?’ I wouldn’t be surprised. Florentino, as Tebas suspects and hinted at in his tweet, could have told Uribes, ‘Go ahead, let’s stick it to Tebas’ financial controls and grant the precautionary measures.”

What makes this particular theory interesting, however, is the fact that La Liga president Javier Tebas also indirectly implied that Real Madrid TV should be talking about this as well once the ruling from the CSD came in a tweet of his own:

“For some time now, the CSD—and particularly its president, under specific instructions—seems intent on dismantling the systems that work in LaLiga and have the majority support of the clubs. The CSD president appears to listen to a single voice, which does not represent professional Spanish football. And that voice, curiously, is complicitly silent in this case. Where is Real Madrid TV now?”

However, beyond this speculation involving Perez, Gonzalez also mentioned that Barcelona president Joan Laporta himself must have made sure to use all of his links and political connections to make this current situation a reality:

“What’s certain is that Laporta will have called all his political allies. And Illa [President of Catalonia’s Generalitat] or someone else must have contacted Moncloa. I’m not saying Pedro Sánchez himself, who likely has more important matters to deal with, but there’s an undeniable political link. And it’s also true that the only football figure Uribes speaks with is Florentino. So I can understand Tebas’ suspicion.”

However, this is for the media and the journalists to look at and decipher. For Barcelona themselves, the most pressing matter at the moment will probably be the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final itself. It remains to be seen what happens off the pitch, but Hansi Flick’s side must deliver on it no matter what.
